Shortcuts Rarely Work!

Have you ever taken a shortcut only to find out it took longer than if you had gone the other way? Have you tried to do a job and cut corners just to find out that the five minutes you saved ended up costing an extra hour or two?

I can tell you, I sure have.

Every once in a while I hit the jackpot and the shortcut works out.  But, more often than not it ends up costing me more work and more time.

I believe its the same in our walk with God.  Shortcuts rarely work.  In fact, unless God does something miraculous, they never work.

Why?  Because He is patient with you and me.  He has more time than we think He does, and He’ll take every bit of time He needs to help you get to where He wants you.

I was out on a run awhile ago, and as I was running I saw a place ahead of me and I thought, “I’ll be there in a minute!”  But, try as I might I had to run every step between where I was and where I was going.

I’ve learned in my Christian walk that you have to take every single step of the journey that you’re on. Taking a shortcut usually leads to the longer, harder path.  Have you ever experienced a difficult time and it felt like you’d been there before?

Maybe it’s time to take a break and assess where you are and what you should do to  make it back to the right path.

Think about this today.  Did your shortcut get you to the right place?  How can you get back?  What should you do to recover?

I hope you continue with me on this journey!  You are going to get there!  Really!  God wants you to get there and He’ll help you along the way.

The cool thing is, that the steps are simple.  Sometimes they are hard to do, but they aren’t complicated and anyone can take them.
